Are You Listening?

on

It’s crazy to see how quickly life can change. These past weeks have shown that. Most of us have never lived in a time like this. As I write this, I am sitting in my living room on a break from work. I am so thankful that I am able to work from home, right now. These times can seem uncertain but I know that no matter what it looks like, God is still in control. He was not surprised that this virus came around and He will bring us through this just as He has brought us through everything else we have been through. We can trust Him.

There is one thing that God has been reminding me of so much lately. He reminds me to stay tuned in to His voice and close to His heart. God is speaking and He is with us, but we have to make sure that we are actively listening to Him. There are so many other things that are screaming for our attention right now and so many voices that are speaking to us. The news is constantly giving us new COVID-19 statistics and telling us how many more people are infected or have died. There is so much fear and panic being spread. Then there’s social media. I personally have had to back off from it a lot. There’s so much nonsense and fear. I have had to put up a guard on my ears and choose carefully what I listen to. We have to choose faith over fear. If we are going to do that, we have to feed our faith. One or the other is being fed depending on what you are listening to. What will you choose to feed?
If you are a child of God, you should have the assurance that He is always with you and that He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

He is our solid rock and we need to stay grounded in Him. He is not shaken by this virus and we should not be either. Yes, I believe we should take the normal precautions but we should not live in fear. Fear is so irrational. If you have extra time right now, spend some time in the Word and spend time with the Father. He is calling us closer. I believe that this time can be a gift. We can spend more time with our families. We can do those things that we always wanted time to be able to do, but we need to be alert because there are so many distractions. Distraction comes in many forms and if you are not looking for it, you may not recognize it. How can we have room for God’s voice if we are consuming our time with everything else around us? We need to be intentional with what we allow ourselves to hear.  Make sure He is your priority and have balance. God wants to speak to us and give us direction, but we need to be tuned in and listen for His still, small voice. I believe that those of us who are attentive to His voice and His leading right now are going to see great things in this time. I see us like an army who has been in training and prepared for battle and we are standing at attention waiting for our orders. Be ready. We are about to see such a great move of God.
