Do You Know Your Blind Spots?

Anyone who drives knows how important it is to know your blind spots and to check them before you make a turn. It is so vitally important to realize that we all have blind spots. No matter who you are, you have them. I believe that especially leaders need to be aware of this and need to surround themselves with the right people who can help them “see” those places where they cannot.

There are many churches that have been infiltrated by different spirits and many people in leadership have not been able to see because of these blind spots. Many have been wounded and have left churches while many leaders are oblivious because of these blind spots. It is important for leaders to be able to hear and receive instruction and correction when necessary. We all should be able to receive this, but especially leaders.

We need to remember that it doesn’t take a title or a degree to hear from God. God will speak to anyone who is yielded and willing. Be careful not to dismiss a warning or instruction that may come from an unexpected source. God used a donkey to speak and He will use whoever He pleases. Correction is not always easy to take, but it is necessary for our growth. If we cannot receive correction, we stunt our growth and open ourselves up to pride. Being able to receive correction takes humility, which we should all strive to have.

Just like when you are driving, if you don’t check those blind spots before you turn, it could lead to a fatal accident, the same happens in the spiritual. These blind spots may be areas of our lives that we need to let God work on or an area that may need healing. Hurt people, hurt people and we can unknowingly hurt others if we don’t deal with our own mess. If you don’t have anyone in your life who you know will be able to help you see where you cannot and can speak the truth in love to you, pray that God will send people like this to help you. I believe we all need this to grow, to heal and to stay humble. No one knows it all, and we need each other. Be aware of your blind spots and be willing to receive help. Your life and the lives of others may very well depend on it.
